A possible way for the Watch Tower to generate revenue via their website.
by adjusted knowledge inearlier in the week someone posted the potential value of the jw website based on visits and if they used advertisements.
many stated they would never do that but i propose they could.. besides their real estate profit making business model, they have the conventions as cash generating machines.
they give directions to their members to which hotels/motels to use.

The proposed ADs on their website was just one suggestion. It may not happen or for a very long time. But there are other methods to generate income from their site. They could hold a special talk online and have a link attached for donations. Imagine if they only got one fourth of their active members to donate $5 during that talk. -

"Wouldn't paid ads put their "not-for-profit" status in jeopardy?"
Not necessarily. It has been a long time since I've taken tax courses and a CPA could answer this better. But the Ads would probably follow under Unrelated Business Income (UBI) and they would pay income tax on that revenue. Unless the revenue was a large percentage of their overall donation it shouldn't affect their nonprofit status.

Any thing is possible with this new version of Witnesses. Just like it would be unthinkable of a self proclaim righteous loyal Jehovah's Witness in the old regimen to ever go against what the society stated in regards to visiting "apostate or opposed" websites in years past, but now daily active witnesses come here and lurk. Some even create an account, reply to threads, and start new threads. Never when I was active in the 90's would any member in good standing do such a thing. So we shall see in 10 years or so what changes occur in regards to their website. -

Besides their real estate profit making business model, they have the conventions as cash generating machines. They give directions to their members to which hotels/motels to use. Couldn't they with all the vendors they deal with incorporate ADs to their website and tell their members to use these vendors. In other words why couldn't they have ads on their site for Comfort Inn (for conventions) or Ads for Roku (to watch JW TV). Once they get the dubs to accept this they could expand.
Don't think it can never happen. I never would of thought they would stop mailing watchtowers to your home and now they embrace the internet for cost savings.
They have millions of people who for free will push the jw.org website. What other business can boast that? And not only are these people going to advertise for free but they are paying customers. It will be interesting to see what path the GB takes once they figure out the gold mine they are sitting on. Perhaps even a paid subscription to their JW TV.

How would you respond to this defense made on behalf of The Watchtower's Child Abuse lawsuits?
by adjusted knowledge indetails of the society's child abuse policies have been published in jehovah's witnesses' publications, although more specific guidelines are only made available to elders, or on request.
press releases issued by the watch tower society's office of public information confirm that if a person accused of molestation repeatedly denies the charges of his victim, and there is no other witness to the incident, "the elders cannot take action within the congregation at that time", but would report to authorities if required by local laws.
our families jehovahs witnesses and child protection.

Catholic religion has reacted better to this issue than the JW. The problem is the leadership of the JW is left up to mainly uneducated elderly males that feel they are demi-gods. -

Interesting. I had a high school friend that used that facility in the 90's for training to get his commercial pilot license. His parents lived right next to the Kingdom Hall when we were children. I bet he will be surprised that his al mater sold the building to the JW. -

I Let Go Of Faith Ten years Ago Today
by cofty inafter more than 30 years as a jw and 9 as a born-again christian i finally let go of faith 10 years ago today.... it was on boxing day 2004 that news of the asian tsunami put the final nail in the coffin of my relationship with god.
since that time i have listened attentively to every possible argument in defense of faith; there has never been a single moment that i have felt any discomfort with my decision.. life without god has been liberating.
no longer do i have to defend the indefensible.

I felt this way after nearly 15 years involved as a JW. I was in my early twenties and was already faded. I moved to the thought that there was still a God but we were too insignificant to matter to that being. I try to focus that this is it and live an enjoyable life. It saddens me though. Since as a child I was taught I would see my Great Aunt again. She died when I was six but I have found memories of her. I accept the fact I will never see her again. I accept the fact that when I look in my daughter's eyes that at any moment cruel fate could take either of us away. That is the reality we live in. Nature is cruel and unloving. That is our God. So live for each day and love those closest to you. It is one good reason I keep cruel and unloving people out of my life. -

Because of this religion I had dificulties being with women. I was officially out at age 21 but began my fade around 19. I ended up dating a very attractive woman because of how I would be perceived and thought the sex would be better. However she was so dishonest, her family were liars and criminals, and I was miserable. I later took my father's advice which was when looking for a mate look at her family. When I met my wife she was not the most physically attractive but she was honest and loving. She is beautiful in my eyes. Also even though her family in the Philippines are very poor, they never once asked me for money. They treat me like a honor guest when I visit. So much more to a relationship then looks. Five years later I gained 50lbs, lost some hair, gained hair in strange places, and have had a few medical problems. So glad my wife wasn't shallow like I was in my 20's. hmmm unless she is slowly poisoning me but I think it may be I eat too much KFC for the reason I have physically changed

Maybe just tell him Bethel can be tough sometimes and if he ever needs to talk he can count on you. Make sure he takes your email address with him to bethel.
That was the exact same advice I was going to give you. It is very hard to wake someone up. My mother is inactive and has more "wordly" friends and the JWs view her as "spiritually weak" but yet she still holds on its the truth and that she is a witness
